I had to bring back Pass of the Night for a day because Ricky Rubio (who else?) made a sublime pass.
The Timberwolves made their yearly trip to Atlanta last night to take on the Hawks in an effort to get back above .500 for only the second time since Novermber 20. The Hawks, meanwhile, were trying to stay above the Raptors who are breathing down their necks for the three seed in the East.
Kevin Love and Ricky Rubio did all they could, but the Hawks sent the visitors packing with a 120-113 win. Love had a monster night, finishing with 43 points and 19 rebounds, while Rubio filled up the score sheet, scoring 5 points, handing out 11 assists, swiping 5 steals and grabbing 4 rebounds.
One of Rubio’s assists was the stuff of legend. After getting a screen from Ronny Turiaf near the left elbow, Rubio drove into the paint to his right. As Jeff Teague recoverd, Rubio euro-stepped him to send him flying past. Faced then with a leaping Paul Millsap, Rubio simply (well at least for him) dropped a no-look, behind-the-back pass for Turiaf to slam home.
Yeah, Rubio is awesome.
