It’s the third of four meetings between the two clubs this year, with the Blazers having taken the first two games. Each team has been among the league’s best all year, and they come into tonight’s matchup with identical 31-10 records. They’re dead even in the race for the Northwest division crown, and also each sit one game back of the San Antonio Spurs for the best record in the West.
Obviously the player to watch in this one is Kevin Durant. The man has been unreal lately, averaging 36 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the month of January so far. The Blazers will need Nic Batum – who is listed as probable – to play, and play well if they hope to slow down Durant.
It should also be fun watching the power forward matchup between Serge Ibaka and LaMarcus Aldridge. Aldridge has had big nights in the two previous meetings this year, dominating Ibaka, who is regarded for his defense.
The Pick: With each of these teams among the league leaders in both offensive efficiency and pace, it figures to be a fun, high-paced matchup. I like Durant to have another big night and lead the Thunder to a 104-99 win.
