ICYMI: Suggested Basketball Reading From Across the Web

Last night was a night of upsets in the NBA, as both the Heat and Thunder fell to lesser opponents on TNT’s Thursday night doubleheader. First, the New York Knicks picked up a huge win without any help from J.R. Smith, who was benched by Mike Woodson. Carmelo Anthony lead the way, scoring 29 points, grabbing 8 rebounds and chipping in 5 assists. In the late game, the Nuggets won 101-88 over the Thunder, despite 30 points from Kevin Durant. Randy Foye had a big night for Denver, dropping 24 points on 7-11 shooting. The action picks up tonight, with 12 games set to go. Until then, take a few minutes to check out some good words about basketball in today’s suggested basketball readings from across the web.

Missing Luol: By Caleb Nordgren (@chisportsguy41)

As I am sure you know by now, the Chicago Bulls recently sent Luol Deng to Cleveland in exchange for Andrew Bynum, whom they swiftly waived, and a few picks. Deng had been with the Bulls since 2004, when they drafted him 7th overall in the 2004 Draft. It was a tough loss for Bulls fans, something Caleb Nordgren wrote about over at Hardwood Paroxysm.

An Appreciation for David Lee: By Dan Lewis (@danlewismedia)

David Lee has been on fire lately, averaging nearly 24 points and 12 rebounds over his last five games. Over at Hickory High, Dan Lewis wrote about appreciating Lee, who – with all the firepower Golden State has – is often the overlooked man.
