NBA Trade Rumors: Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings Interested in Andre Miller

After getting out to a surprising 14-9 start, the Denver Nuggets have fallen apart, losing eight in a row. On top of the long losing streak, there has also been drama in the locker room, with coach Brian Shaw suspending veteran guard Andre Miller for two games after Miller’s outburst during their game against the Philadelphia 76ers.

In the wake of the suspension, two teams have reportedly become interested in acquiring Miller should the relationship be beyond repair. According to Yahoo Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski and Marc J. Spears, both the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings have interest in acquiring the 37 year-old point guard.

The Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings are intrigued with the possibility of acquiring suspended Denver Nuggets point guard Andre Miller, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

The Warriors have been in need of a backup point guard since Jarrett Jack signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers over the summer. When Curry takes a break – which is rare – they usually let Andre Iguodala run the offense rather than Toney Douglas, who plays just a handful of minutes a night. While Iguodala does a fine job, acquiring Miller would give the Warriors a true point guard to back up Curry.

As for the Kings, the report from Wojnarowski and Spears indicates they are interested in using him as a mentor for the young Isaiah Thomas, who has taken over as the starting point guard since Greivis Vasquez was sent to the Toronto Raptors in the Rudy Gay deal.

Sacramento GM Pete D’Allessandro was a longtime executive with the Nuggets and has long been an admirer of Miller’s. The Kings would love to use Miller as a veteran mentor for young point guard Isaiah Thomas, league sources said.

For right now, however, the Nuggets hope to keep on to Miller and fix the relationship between him and Shaw.

For now, Denver management is determined to smooth over the acrimony between Miller and coach Brian Shaw, and plan on bringing back Miller on Monday for practice, league sources said.

If the bridge has been burned, however, the Warriors and Kings will surely be waiting to take Miller off the Nuggets’ hands.
