Raptors Win Again: Thoughts on the NBA For 1/2/14

  • All of a sudden, there’s a whole FOUR teams in the Eastern Conference with a .500 record or better: the Pacers, Heat, Hawks, and… Raptors! Winners of four in a row, the Raptors are now 15-15. Granted three of those wins were against the Knicks (twice) and the Bulls, but last night they beat a really good Pacers team. They’re 8-2 over their last 10 games (including a win in Oklahoma City), and lead the division by 2 and a half games. Maybe it will be the Raptors who come out of this mess in the Atlantic Division.

  • Wow are Anthony Davis’ arms crazy long. It’s something you know and is in the back of your head, but then you see it live and its just incredible. Just look at this video and screen caps of his blocks from last night against the Timberwolves. It’s incredible that he’s just 20 years old and hasn’t even gotten through his second year in the league. I can’t wait to see how dominant he is three to five years down the line.

  • Kevin Love grabbed only 6 rebounds last night, the first time he hasn’t been in double figures for rebounds since December 15, and it’s only the third time it’s happened all year. He still dropped 21 points, however, and hasn’t been in single digits for scoring at all this year. (The only time he came close was when he scored just 10 back in November against the Knicks.)

  • Cody Zeller tried to give Blake Griffin a taste of his own medicine last night, and it did not go so well. It would have been an awesome dunk, but the younger Zeller came up a bit short. Good job, good effort, rook.
