Kyrie Irving’s Knee Injury Just a Contusion

Good news, Cleveland Cavaliers fans; Kyrie Irving’s knee injury is just a contusion.

Yesterday, the Cavs lost to the Pacers, 76-91, and were afraid they had also lost Irving. Late in the 3rd quarter last night, Irving hurt his knee on a fast break and had to be carried off the court. Although he was able to return to the game, he said afterwards that he felt a pop and was scheduled to undergo an MRI today.

Well the results from that MRI just came back, and they were positive, showing Irving had sustained only a contusion, and will be day-to-day.

This season has gone about as poorly as anyone could have expected, and losing Irving for a long stretch would have pretty much ended any hopes the Cavs have of bouncing back and making the playoffs.

As it is, Irving should be back soon, if he misses any time at all. Good news for Kyrie, good news for the Cavs, and good news for fans of the NBA.
