Thanks to dual 26 point nights from Paul George and Lance Stephenson, the Pacers easily took care of business against the struggling Nets. George also added 6 rebounds and 5 assists, while Stephenson chipped in 7 rebounds and 5 assists.
No one really played that well for the Nets, with Joe Johnson leading the way with 17 points on 7-13 shooting. No one else, however, scored more than 12 as the home team labored their way through the night, shooting just 29-76, or 38% from the field.
The loss dropped Brooklyn to 9-18, but they somehow still sit just two games out of the eighth and final playoff position in the East.
Things did start off well for the Nets last night, however, as they jumped out to a 8-2 lead and Deron Williams made the Pass of the Night.
After grabbing a rebound early in the 1st quarter, Kevin Garnett looked around and finally spotted Williams over to his left. He dropped the pass over to him and Williams started up the court. After crossing half court, Williams slowed down a bit, as the Nets had no numbers advantage.
But while the quick push by Williams didn’t get the Nets a numbers advantage, it did force the Pacers back in a hurry, and they were not set defensively. Williams took advantage of this, hitting Mirza Teletovic with a long-range alley-oop.
