With only three games on the docket last night, there weren’t too many options for potential passes to feature on Game of the Night.
But early on, the contest was over, thanks to Shaun Livingston.
In the opener of TNT’s doubleheader, the New York Knicks traveled across the city to Brooklyn to take on the Nets. It was a brutal match-up between two awful teams. Both the Knicks and Nets were expected to be playoff teams, with Brooklyn possible contenders for the Eastern Conference crown.
So far, however, these two squads have been pitiful and each find themselves at the bottom of the Eastern Conference. Last night was the first meeting of the season between the two, and it was a disaster – to say the least – for the Nets.
The Knicks jumped out to a big 1st quarter lead, and ended sending the Nets home with their second (!) 30 point loss of the season. Carmelo Anthony played a nice game for the Knicks, finishing with 19 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists in just 31 minutes.
Only Brook Lopez really played well for the Nets, scoring 24 points and grabbing 9 rebounds. Chipping in off the bench, Shaun Livingston scored 9 points and Mirza Teletovic had 6 points and 8 rebounds.
The two bench mates also combined for a beautiful basket in the middle of the 2nd quarter. After making a cut to the basket, Livingston caught a pass and immediately kept the ball moving, throwing a bounce pass behind him to Teletovic in the corner. The Bosnian, in turn, knocked down the three ball.
