Well this came out of nowhere.
While all of the basketball world was collectively consoling each other about the news that Derrick Rose is officially out for the season, the Los Angeles Lakers suddenly announced that they had agreed to terms with Kobe Bryant on a contract extension.
The actual extension isn’t all that surprising, it was always likely Kobe would finish his career as a Laker. The announcement just caught a lot of people, myself included, off guard.

Bryant, obviously, is yet to play this year, as he is still recovering from the torn achilles he suffered late last season. According to many reports, however, Bryant is very close to a return. The future Hall-of-Famer’s current deal was set to expire at the end of this season. According to SportsCenter, the extension is for two years.

We’ll soon have the Black Mamba back in our lives, and now he’ll be staying there for at least two more years.
