Wednesday brings Day 2 of the NBA season upon us. While only three games took place on Tuesday, there are now fourteen games being played just one day later. There are many exciting storylines to keep an eye out for on Wednesday, from Dwight Howard‘s debut with the Houston Rockets to highly contested matchups between teams such as the Memphis Grizzlies and San Antonio Spurs. One game, however, stands above the rest. The Brooklyn Nets vs. the Cleveland Cavaliers.

This game will mark the much anticipated debut of the Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Jason Terry trio in Brooklyn. After making some of the offseason’s biggest moves, the Nets are now expected to instantly challenge the Miami Heat for the NBA Eastern Conference Championship. Their five starters of Deron WilliamsJoe Johnson, Pierce, Garnett and Brook Lopez have a combined total of 35 (!) All-Star appearances.

The Cavaliers finished last season’s campaign with a disappointing record of 24-48. Just one year later, however, and the young Cleveland squad has the looks of a playoff team. Cleveland has built their identity around emerging superstar Kyrie Irving and certainly have the pieces to capture a six-to-eight seed in the EC.

While still extremely early, this game can be an indicator as to how well the Cavs can stack up against the upper echelon teams of the conference. It will also be interesting to check out the new beginnings of future hall of famers KG and Pierce. Besides, does anyone remember their matchup from last November? Who doesn’t want to see Uncle Drew dominate the game?

Prediction:

The Cavaliers will compete and grind throughout the contest. Yet, the Nets will be just too much to handle in the end.
