Yes, you read that headline correctly. Evan Turner just dunked on LeBron James.
Okay, so LeBron didn’t fully challenge him, but he definitely tried to block it. With a full head of steam, Turner went right through the attempt and powered home the two-handed slam, sending the Philly crowd into hysterics.
Even more surprising than that dunk, is the fact that the Sixers are currently dominating the Heat. Whether it’s fatigue from their ring ceremony and match-up with the Bulls last night, or just a poor start, the Heat don’t have it so far tonight.
After the 1st quarter, the Sixers lead 33-14. This isn’t exactly how you’re supposed to tank Philadelphia. (Yes, the Heat will probably come storming back and win this game by at least 10 points.)
Turner, by the way, currently has 9 points on 4-7 shooting. Maybe this will be the year Turner finally turns (no pun intended, seriously) it around and repays the faith the Sixers showed by drafting him 2nd overall back in 2010. With the roster around him, Turner will certainly have all the opportunities he needs. As head coach Brett Brown said recently, the team “only has six NBA players and a bunch of guys who are fighting for spots.” Turner is definitely one of those NBA players.
