Pass of the Night: Michael Carter-Williams To Vander Blue (Video)

The Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers made their way to Newark, Delaware for a preseason game in what was the first edition of what could be a season-battle between the two for the worst record in the Eastern Conference. The Celtics aren’t being as blatant about their tanking efforts as the Sixers are, but make no mistake about it, both teams are looking ahead to the 2014 NBA Draft.

The Sixers are now three preseason games into the most obvious tanking effort the league has seen in some years. Scanning their roster, there are only a handful of players that casual fans will have even heard of. One of the players that most people will know, is Michael Carter-Williams. Drafted 11th overall in this summer’s draft, the baby-faced 22-year old from Syracuse expects to be the team’s starting point guard this year.

At 6’6″, MCW has great size for a point guard and possesses great vision and passing ability. Last night, he showed off his passing repertoire, finishing with 6 assists. One of those was a beautiful feed to Vander Blue. Late in the second quarter, MCW was dribbling on the left wing after the Sixers had corralled an offensive rebound. He then rejected a screen and drove towards the basket. Over on the right wing was Blue. Blue caught his defender (Jordan Crawford) ball watching and cut baseline. MCW lofted a perfect lob up to the wide open Blue, who slammed it home.

MCW finished the night with 6 points, 6 assists and 6 rebounds while Blue chipped in 8 points as the Sixers won 97-85.
