Report: Gilbert Arenas May Make Comeback With Clippers

It seems there could be an ‘Agent Zero’ revival in the NBA this upcoming season. The last time Gilbert Arenas put on an NBA jersey, he was a member of the Memphis Grizzlies averaging a career low 4.2 points and 1.1 assists per game during the 2011-2012 season. One would assume that with his recent appearance in the Drew Summer league, he is positioning himself to give the NBA another shot. It is also safe to say that he could do so with a potential title contender out in the Western Conference.

From Alex Kennedy of HoopsWorld

“I’m hearing that Gilbert Arenas has looked good in workouts this summer. The Clippers may invite him to training camp, according to sources.”

It seems to me that with this news, the Los Angeles Clippers are looking for a few possible things. One thing is the potential that if, and that is a huge IF, Arenas is anywhere near his old style of play it could be a big asset off the bench during the playoffs. He could provide another scoring threat to an already deep bench at guard and could also be a much needed option in case of a injury.

Some would say that the Clippers do not need another guard, but should look to add front court depth even with the latest addition of former BYU forward Brandon Davies to the Training camp roster.

Personally, I hope that Arenas gets an opportunity to play in the NBA again and if the Clippers option is there, you have the possibility that the marriage could work. With Doc Rivers as your head coach and Chris Paul and Blake Griffin as your leaders, I honestly do not see a reason why it would not.

Hibachi back!
