Kobe Bryant finished with 34 points Friday night as the Los Angeles Lakers squeaked past the Golden State Warriors 118-116.

Unfortunately, late in the 4th quarter, Bryant suffered what looks like a torn achilles tendon according to multiple sources.

If this is true, it is a crushing blow to whatever remaining hope the Lakers had of making a playoff run, if they even get to the post-season.

Kobe has played at an extremely high level this season, especially in the last few days, averaging over 30 points in the last 5 games. As he’s tried to drag the Lakers into the playoffs, he has also carried a very heavy workload, playing nearly 45 minutes a night over the same stretch.

It’s a tough end to the season for one of the game’s all time greats.
